Alongside her work as a musician in the field of historically informed performance practice, Amy Shen teaches violin, viola and piano in Bremen and surrounding areas. She offers group as well as private violin lessons at Pastorenweg Elementary School in Bremen-Gröpelingen and also teaches at the music schools Musikschule Ridder and Musica a Casa.
Her own musical education began with piano lessons at the age of 4; from age 10, she received violin and viola instruction following the Suzuki method. During her studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music, she pursued courses in Suzuki as well as traditional string pedagogy. Within a few months of moving to The Hague in 2011, she started offering private lessons on the violin, viola and piano; additionally, she worked as a substitute violin teacher at the Virtuosi School of Music and the American School of The Hague. In 2015, she moved to Bremen, where she lives and works today.
Her students are children from ages 4 to 18, college and university students, working adults and seniors – anyone who wants to learn to play music is welcome!
