Amy Shen is a violinist and violist specialized in historically informed performance practice. 

A native of Ithaca, NY, she discovered her interest in early music while completing degrees in modern viola at the Cleveland Institute of Music and began to focus her training on the baroque violin. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, she completed her master’s studies at the University of the Arts in Bremen in 2018. Her principal teachers during her studies were Jeffrey Irvine, Lynne Ramsey, Julie Andrijeski, Marc Destrubé, Ryo Terakado, Veronika Skuplik and Thomas Albert.

Regularly in demand as an ensemble musician on both violin and viola, Amy Shen has collaborated with ensembles such as la festa musicale, Concerto dei venti, la dolcezza, Concerto Ispirato, the Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg, Concerto Palatino, L’Arpeggiata, the Bremer Barockorchester and the Svapinga Consort. She is the violist of the Wisura Quartet and performs together with Robert Selinger as the Schwanenberg Duo.
